I would be remiss if I didn't offer my sincere gratitude to those that have helped me with information and resources along the way.
Ron, Dave (the other Maine Dave!), Chris, Tom, Tim, Scott, Bill, Gene, the guys from NCVA New England and anyone else on our Cold War dork e-mail list, thank you for your guidance, patience and advice. You guys are awesome.
And to people like Susan, Tyson, Drew, Jim, Jimbob, Al and anyone else that's tagged along on one of my crazy trips into the boonies, I don't know how you guys did it, but thanks. Half the time when I do one of these trips, I wake up in the morning, call someone, throw my laptop, camera, Smith & Wesson and Gazetteer in the truck and go.
Looking for some informational sites? Start here:
3084th Aviation Depot Group - Good Q Area pictures and associated history from Stony Brook AFB in Chicopee Falls, MA
Pine Tree Line - Good information on the Pine Tree Line with some photos that would otherwise be hard to come by. Not the greatest with navigation, but there's some solid info here.
New England Army Corps of Engineers - This site is probably better at keeping you up to date on what is happening today, but the history section does have some neat photos.
Radomes - This is the site that started it all for me. Thanks to Tom and Gene and everyone else that made this site what it is. It made information readily available and made it easy for me to find the sites of interest in Maine.
Loring AFB - Mike Makar's website is a must see for anyone thinking about visiting Loring or anyone that has even a passing interest in SAC bases.
Abandoned Air Fields - This site has listings of abandoned and little-known airfields for pretty much every state in the US. This site pointed me in the direction of the Milford Airfield and gave me all kinds of great background info.
History of the Snark Missile - Only one base ever had Snark missiles assigned to it and it was right here in Maine in Presque Isle. Ron, we're still waiting for you to come visit.
Connecticut Cold War Sites - Excellent site full of historic and current pictures and information regarding Connecticut Cold War sites.
